Women's Hockey announces end of the year awards

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (Blugolds.com)- The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Women's Hockey team has announced their team awards for the 2019-20 season.

The Freshman of the Year Award was presented to Sydney Hendricks (Fr. – Hudson, WI) in her first season with the Blugolds. She played in 28 games, scored four goals, and recorded four assists as a rookie.

Erin Connolly (Sr. – Mequon, WI/Homestead) received the Most Studious award in her final season with the Blugolds. Connolly was the recipient of the 2020 Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Judy Kruckman Woman's Ice Hockey Scholar-Athlete Award. She was able to maintain a 3.86 GPA while majoring in Kinesiology/Human Performance, while also pursuing a minor in Psychology.

The Most Valuable Player Award was given to Elizabeth Bauer (Sr. – Wausau, WI/East) after an offensive-powered senior year. The Blugold captain led the team in goals and accumulated 21 points in 28 games played. She finished her four-year career with 37 goals and 66 assists.

Connolly and Bauer were both named 2020 AHCA All-Americans and 2020 All-WIAC Recipients.

Emily Bauer (Sr. – Wausau, WI/East) was awarded the Blugold Award/Unsung Hero after her final season at Eau Claire. The Blugold winger played in 95 games and had 40 points all time.

All awards were voted on by players and staff of the Blugold hockey team.

The captains for the 2020-21 season will be Emma Peterson (Jr. - Superior, WI) Hanna Zavoral (Jr. – St. Paul, MN/Highland Park) , Morgan Zirbel (Jr. – Green Bay, WI/Ashwaubenon) , and Bree Osborne (Jr. – West St. Paul, MN/Cretin Derham Hall).
