Eau Claire, Wis. (Blugolds.com) – The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire women's hockey team took part in their 2nd annual Cancer Awareness game at Hobbs Ice Center on Saturday where the Blugolds defeated Northland College, 4-1.

Box Score

The first period would be a mirror image of the previous night as the Blugolds would outshoot Northland 17 -1, but no goals were rewarded to either side.

The second period would serve a different story as Hanna Zavoral (Jr. – St. Paul, MN/Highland Park) would get things started for Eau Claire at the 8-minute mark. After Zavoral's ninth goal of the year, Ella Ierino (So. – Duluth, MN) would cash in as well in order for the home squad to take a commanding 2-0 lead.

Later that period, Emily Bauer (Sr. – Wausau, WI/East) would find space in the slot and rifle the puck into the top left corner to make it 3-0.

Northland would find a goal of their own late in the third, but the final period was all Eau Claire. Abby Roeser (Sr. – Cottage Grove, MN/East Ridge) would record her seventh goal of the year to seal the deal for the 19th win of the season for UW-Eau Claire.

Goaltender Erin Connolly (Sr. – Mequon, WI/Homestead) stopped all 7 of the 8 shots she faced and is now 17-1-2 on the season.

The Blugolds will wrap up their regular season next week after a home-and-home series with UW-River Falls. The first game of the series will be on Friday, February 21st at Hobbs Ice Center. The final game of the season will take place on Saturday, February 22nd at Hunt Arena in River Falls. Both games are scheduled for a 7 PM puck drop.
