(blugolds.com) — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire placed 37th in the 2022-23 LEARFIELD Directors' Cup among Division III competitors. The Blugolds finished in the upper echelon of a competition which featured 323 schools.

Fobbe Crowned National Champion, Ekoue Runner-Up at NCAA Indoor ChampionshipsMarch 11, 2023BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (blugolds.com) – The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire men’s and women’s track & field teams closed out the 2023 NCAA Division III Indoor Championships on Saturday with a handful of Blugolds earning top honors. Catie Fobbe (Sr. – Annandale, Minn./Maple Lake) was crowned the National Champion in the women’s shot put with a personal best throw of 15.04 meters. Yakob Ekoue (Sr. – Hopkins, Minn.) earned a runner-up spot in the men’s shot put with a throw of 17.78 meters.

Track & Field Competes at Day 1 of NCAA Indoor ChampionshipsMarch 10, 2023BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (blugolds.com) – The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire men’s and women’s track & field team competed during day one of the 2023 NCAA Division III Indoor Championships on Friday. All 15 Blugolds were in action for prelims or multi events as four Blugolds set personal bests and Stefan Klechefski (Jr. – Roberts, Wis./River Falls) qualified for the 60m dash finals.

Ekoue Earns Kwik Trip Field Performer of the Meet at WIAC ChampionshipsMarch 06, 2023MADISON, Wis.--The Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) has revealed its award winners for the 2023 men’s indoor track & field season based on voting by the league coaches. UW-Eau Claire's Yakob Ekoue (Sr. - Hopkins, Minn.) earned the Kwik Trip Field Performer of the Meet during his performance at the 2023 WIAC Indoor Track & Field Championships.

15 Blugolds Set to Travel to NCAA Indoor ChampionshipsMarch 06, 2023INDIANAPOLIS (blugolds.com) - The NCAA has released the entries for the 2023 NCAA Indoor Track and Field National Championships schedule for this weekend in Birmingham, Alabama. 15 Blugold student-athletes will be representing the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire at the competition.

Blugolds Show Out at Wartburg Final QualifiersMarch 04, 2023WARTBURG, Iowa (blugolds.com) – The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire men’s and women’s track and field teams sent a small number of Blugolds down to Wartburg College this past weekend to compete in the Wartburg Final Qualifier Meet. Yakob Ekoue (Sr. - Hopkins, Minn.) finished his regular season off strong with wins in the shot put (17.75m) and weight throw (18.71m). Ekoue will go into the national meet next weekend as the second ranked shot putter in the nation, and the sixth ranked weight thrower. Joining Ekoue will be Catie Fobbe (Sr. - Annandale, Minn./Maple Lake), who placed second in both the shot put (14.22m) and weight throw (17.46m) at Wartburg. Fobbe is currently ranked first in the nation in the shot put for women, and she also boasts a ninth place ranking in the weight throw.

Women Place 2nd, Men 4th at WIAC Indoor ChampionshipsFebruary 25, 2023MENOMINE, Wis (blugolds.com) - The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire men's and women's track and field teams finished competing at the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Indoor Track and Field Championships this Saturday afternoon. The women's team capped off an impressive showing by placing second overall as a team with 116 points scored over the two-day competition. The men finished fourth with 68.3 points.

Track and Field Competes at UW-Stout QuadrangularFebruary 10, 2023MENOMINEE, Wis (blugolds.com) - On Friday, the Blugold men and women's track and field teams dominated events at the UW-Stout quadrilateral meet, with 14 first place finishers. Yakob Ekoue (Sr. - Hopkins, Minn.) continued his undefeated season in shot put (17.60m) and weight throw (19.18m) with personal records in both events. Yakob boasts a 2nd place ranking nationally in shot put, as well as 5th place ranking in the weight throw. Hannah Zastrow (Jr. - Spencer, Wis) took the crown in high jump with a leap of 1.68m, and the 60m hurdles with a time of 8.79s. Hannah’s younger sister, Leah Zastrow (Fr. - Spencer, Wis.) continued her strong season with a victory in pole vault (3.56m). In the 1600m run, Mason Shea won with a personal best time of 4:14.46. On the women's side, senior Carolyn Shult (Sr. Augusta, Wis) also crushed her personal best with a time of 5:00.04.

Blugold Multis Dominate Day One with Career-HighsJanuary 27, 2023MENOMONIE, Wis. (blugolds.com) – The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire men’s and women’s track & field pentathletes and heptathletes competed on day one of the Warren Bowlus Open hosted by UW-Stout on Friday. The Blugolds dominated the first day of events as the Blugolds placed 1st, 2nd, and 3rd in the pentathlon and four Blugolds sit in the top-6 of the heptathlon.

(blugolds.com) — Four student-athletes from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire received WIAC Kwik Trip Athlete of the Week honors for the week of Jan. 16-22. Gymnast Harriet Toth (So. - Regina, Saskatchewan/Martin), field athletes Yakob Ekoue (Sr. - Hopkins, Minn.) and Catie Fobbe (Sr. - Annandale, Minn./Maple Lake) and diver Sarah Dahlk (Sr. - Verona, Wis./Middleton) were all recognized for standout performances.

Blugolds sweep titles at Platteville TriangularJanuary 21, 2023PLATTEVILLE, Wis. (blugolds.com) — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire men's and women's track and field teams participated in their first official competition of 2023 on Saturday. The Blugolds swept both the men's and women's titles at the UW-Platteville Triangular. The Blugold women tallied 161 points to win their meet, while the men accumulated 155 points to take first. UW-Platteville and UW-Stevens Point were the other participants.

Men's and Women's Track & Field host Alumni Open; Zastrow Records New Facility RecordJanuary 14, 2023Eau Claire, Wis. (blugolds.com) - The University of Wisconsin Eau Claire men's and women's track & field teams opened their 2023 season at home for their annual Alumni Open. This was the first Alumni open since 2020, due to COVID-19 causing cancellations in years past. While not a meet that counts towards qualifying marks for the Conference or National meet, there were still several impressive performances, including Hannah Zastrow’s (Jr. - Spencer, WI/Spencer) facility record in the 55m hurdles with a time of 8.25 seconds.
