ST. PAUL, Minn. (Blugolds.com) – The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire women's hockey went on the road on Tuesday for a non-conference game against Hamline University. After taking the lead in the first, the Blugolds would fall late in the third, 3-2.

Box Score

Emma Peterson (Jr. – Superior, WI) would get things started for Eau Claire on the powerplay after slotting home her own rebound for the games first tally. This would be Peterson's fifth goal of the year, first on the powerplay, and puts her in sole position for team lead in goals scored. The Pipers would answer in the second period to tie things at 1-1.

In the third, Morgan Zirbel (Jr. – Green Bay, WI/Ashwaubenon) would break free in the neutral after exiting the box and receive a stretch pass from the Blugold zone. Alone on the breakaway, Zirbel would deke past the Piper goalie and use her backhand to record her fourth goal of the year.

The lead wouldn't last long after Hamline answered just three minutes later to tie it. The Pipers would find the back of the net again with 1:20 remaining in the final frame to upset the No. 5 ranked Blugolds.

Goaltender Kylah Krause (Belleville, IL/East) stopped 20 of the 23 shots she faced and her record now stands at 1-1-0 on the season.

The Blugolds will be back in action this weekend as they host Concordia-Moorhead (MN) of Friday and Saturday, December 13-14 at Hobbs Ice Arena. The first game will start at 7 PM and the second will be a 2 PM puck drop.
