    NEW ORLEANS (blugolds.com) — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire men's and women's track and field teams received both individual and team academic awards from the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association for the 2023 season.

    EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (blugolds.com) — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire placed 37th in the 2022-23 LEARFIELD Directors' Cup among Division III competitors. The Blugolds finished in the upper echelon of a competition which featured 323 schools.

    ROCHESTER, N.Y. (blugolds.com) — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire track and field program produced two national champions at the 2023 NCAA Outdoor Championships over the weekend at Polisseni Track and Field Complex. Yakob Ekoue (Sr. - Hopkins, Minn.) won the men's shot put national title, and Mitch Stegeman (Sr. - Coleman, Wis./Suring) claimed the men's decathlon national championship. The Blugold men placed fifth in the team standings, while the women tied for 49th.
  • 14 Blugolds Earn USTFCCCA All-Region Honors

    NEW ORLEANS (blugolds.com) – All Region honors for the 2023 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field season were announced on Friday by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) following the conclusion of the regular season. Top-5 individuals in each event from each region earned All-Region honors, in addition to each of the members of a top-3 ranked relay team.

    LA CROSSE, Wis (blugolds.com) - In the final tune-up meet before the National Championships next week, the UW-Eau Claire track and field athletes competed in the UW-L Final Qualifier in La Crosse, Wis and the Augustana College Twilight qualifier in Rock Island, Ill.
  • Blugolds Hit Marks At UWL and St. Francis Invites

    LA CROSSE, Wis (blugolds.com) - The UW-Eau Claire track and field team competed in two different states this past Friday. The majority of the team competed at the Eagle Open in La Crosse while a handful of Blugold distance runners competed in the St Francis Fighting Chance Invite in Joliet, Illinois.

    WHITEWATER, Wis (blugolds.com) - The University if Wisconsin-Eau Claire track and field teams showed out at the WIAC Conference Championships this past weekend hosted at UW-Whitewater. The women’s team placed second overall with 156 points  and men placed fourth with 88.5 points.

  • Track and Field Hosts Inaugural Dick and Mary Johnson Invite

    EAU CLAIRE, Wis (blugolds.com) - This past Friday, the UW-Eau Claire track and field team hosted their first outdoor meet since 2008! The Blugolds showed out in the unscored contest by winning eleven events across both the men’s and women’s teams. Stefan Klechefski (Jr. - Roberts, Wis./River Falls) stands out as a top sprinter of the meet as he picked up event wins in the 100m dash (10.70s) and 200m dash (22.10s). For the second straight week, Yakob Ekoue (Sr. - Hopkins, Minn.) picked up wins in three different events: Shot Put (16.76m), Discus (52.91m), and Hammer Throw (57.51m). Tommy Mestnik (So. - Prior Lake, Minn.) won the Javelin Throw with a huge personal best of 51.88m.

    LA CROSSE, Wis (blugolds.com) - The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire track and field teams were back in La Crosse this weekend for the Phil Esten Challenge. The women’s team finished the weekend with 123.5 points and a second place finish while the men finished in fourth with 81 points. 
  • Track and Field Begins Outdoor Season on High Note at Ashton May Invite

    115.5 points and the women's team placed second with 113.5 points. Hannah Zastrow (Jr. - Spencer, Wis.) started her season off strong with an event win in the 100m hurdles with a time of 14.48 seconds. On the men’s side, Yakob Ekoue (Sr. - Hopkins, Minn.) put together a pair of victories by winning the shot put (16.64m) and discus throw (53.41m).
