BOSTON (Blugolds.com) – The University of Wisconisn-Eau Claire women's hockey head coach Erik Strand has been named one of nine finalists for the American Hockey Coaches Association (AHCA) CCM/AHCA NCAA Division III Women's Ice Hockey Coach of the Year Award.
Strand earned his first WIAC Coach of the Year Award for the team's best season in program history. With 22 wins, their first WIAC regular season title, and a third consecutive birth to the NCAA tournament, the Blugolds finished the shortened season in the top three of the USCHO.com's Division III Poll. They were also tied for third in the Pairwise Rankings.
To be considered a finalist this season, one must either be named Coach of the Year at the conference level or be ranked in the Top Four of the Pairwise Rankings at season's end.
