MADISON, Wis. (Blugolds.com) - The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire's Zach Dyment,GK (Jr.--Abbotsford, British Columbia/Yale Secondary), and Emily Bauer For. (Sr.—Wausau, WI/ East) have been named Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Kwik Trip Athletes of the Week, as was announced by Assistant Commissioner of Media Relations Matt Stanek.
Dyment was a defensive key during the week for the No. 3-ranked Blugolds as they went 2-0 and won the PrimeLink Great Northern Shootout in Plattsburgh, N.Y. In a 6-1 triumph over Plattsburgh State, Dyment stopped 29 of the 30 shots he saw. In a 4-3 win over Middlebury College (Vt.) in the championship, he tallied 25 saves, recording his sixth straight victory and improving the UW-Eau Claire's record to 8-0-1. Dyment was named the tournament MVP as UW-Eau Claire became only the second invitational team to win the tournament in its 22-year history.
Bauer had a strong week for the No. 6-ranked Blugolds as they went 2-0-1 and improved their overall record to 8-1-1. She shined in the Blugolds' 2-0 win over No. 5-ranked Elmira College (N.Y.) as she recorded one goal and one assist to record two points. UW-Eau Claire also beat No. 9-ranked Hamline University (Minn.) 4-3 and forged a 1-1 tie with No. 10-ranked University of St. Thomas (Minn.).
In the latest USCHO polls, the Blugold Men's Hockey team is now ranked No.1 in the nation, and the Blugold Women are now ranked No. 5.
