Hoeppner and Bauer Named Kwik Trip Athletes of the Week

MADISON, Wis. (Blugolds.com) - The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire's Hallee Hoeppner (Sr.—Winona, MN) and Elizabeth Bauer (Sr.—Wausau, WI/ East) have been named Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Kwik Trip Athletes of the Week, as was announced by Assistant Commissioner of Media Relations Matt Stanek.

Hoeppner played a strong role for the Blugolds as they went 2-0 on the week to improve their WIAC record to 2-1. She scored 34 points in two games, while shooting 9-of-19 (47.4 percent) from the floor, 3-of-7 (42.9 percent) from three-point range and 13-of-14 (92.9 percent) from the free-throw stripe. Hoeppner tallied a double-double (19 point, 11 rebounds) in a 64-59 win over UW-Stout, including scoring a couple of timely baskets late in the game. Against UW-Platteville, she rallied the Blugolds to a 73-58 win, scoring 13 of her 15 points in the second half, despite being down four points at the half. Hoeppner also added 20 rebounds, nine assists and four blocks in two games, while averaging 39 minutes per contest.

Bauer led the Blugolds in sweep of Lake Forest College (Ill.) with wins of 3-1 and 6-1 at Hobbs Ice Arena, improving their overall record to 12-2-1.  She tallied one goal on Jan. 10, and then went on to score two goals in the victory on Jan. 11. Bauer also recorded her 100th career point in her 100th career game.
