The Blugolds scored their lone goal early as Ella Ierino (So. – Duluth, MN) lit the lamp midway through the first period thanks to assists from Emily Bauer (Sr. – Wausau, WI/East) and Taylor Treu (Jr. – Wausau, WI/West).

Neither team could find the back of the net in the second, but the Falcons would score a power play goal at the midway point of the third to force overtime. In the extra frame, River Falls would score with just under two minutes to go to claim the O'Brien Cup.

The Blugolds outshot the Falcons 37-26 but were 0-for-4 on the power play while the Falcons were 1-for-2.

Eau Claire (22-4-2) and River Falls (21-5-2) will now await to see if their names are called for the NCAA Selection Show on Monday at 9 a.m.
