Originally dedicated in 1969, McPhee featured an expansion in 1987 when the Ade Olson Addition was constructed. McPhee serves as the main headquarters for the athletics program. The original building, which was renovated in 2007, houses a 6-lane, 25-yard natatorium plus a main gymnasium with portable seating for 1,000 in which volleyball, gymnastics and wrestling matches are contested.

There is also a newly-furnished weight room. The Ade Olson addition features an elevated 6-lane, 200-meter track plus four indoor tennis courts and a modern sports medicine facility. The building also features raquetball courts and a golf room.

Outside the McPhee building are eight tennis courts plus Simpson Field, which features a 9-lane, 400-meter all-weather track surrounding Simpson Field where turf was installed in 2020. Just beyond Simpson Field are two more football fields and newly renovated (2020) field event areas.

The football team plays at city-owned Carson Park, a 6,500-seat facility that saw artificial turf installed in 2015, plus new locker rooms, concession area and restroom facilities were built in 1997.

City-owned Hobbs Ice Center, which seats 1,100, serves as the home of the Blugold hockey teams. In 2008, Hobbs was renovated to incorporate many new features including new locker rooms for the Blugolds.

The men and women’s basketball teams call the 2,500-seat W. L. Zorn Arena on lower campus their home facility. Built in the early 1950s, this structure has been the site of numerous playoff games for the Blugolds’ nationally-regarded men and women’s basketball programs. The facility was named in honor of W. L. "Bill" Zorn who was the head men’s basketball coach at UWEC for 40 years. Zorn Arena was the first major post-war public college building to be constructed in the state of Wisconsin.

Just south of the university’s Upper Campus is a 40-acre tract now known as the Bollinger Fields, renamed during the summer of 1998 in honor of Blugold Hall of Famer and former Assistant Chancellor Jim Bollinger. The site includes four softball fields, three soccer fields and a rugby field. At Bollinger, the softball team plays at at the main softball field. The softball scoreboard and windscreens were added in 2017.

The men’s golf team plays its home tournaments at the Eau Claire Golf & Country Club, one of the top-rated private courses in the state. Established in 1901, Eau Claire Golf & Country Club enjoys a long-standing reputation of possessing one of the finest and most challenging golf courses in the upper Midwest. The 18-hole, par 71 Championship course is spread out over 250 acres of mature, wooded terrain, including sweeping hillsides and towering white pines.

The women’s golf team plays its home tournaments at the Mill Run and Wild Ridge Golf Courses.

The Whitetail Golf Course, just outside of Colfax, is the home course for the men’s and women’s cross country teams.
