Blugold Basketball Sweeps Kwik Trip Athlete of the Week

MADISON, Wis. (Blugolds.com) - The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire's Hallee Hoeppner (Sr.—Winona, MN) and Cole Rabedeaux (Sr.—Poulsbo, WA/ North Kitsap) have been named Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Kwik Trip Athletes of the Week, as was announced by Assistant Commissioner of Media Relations Matt Stanek.

Hoeppner was instrumental in helping the Blugolds going 3-0 this week, including a non-conference win against UW-Superior and WIAC victories over UW-Oshkosh and at UW-Stevens Point. She scored 66 points in three games, while shooting 21-of-34 (61.8 percent) from the floor and 6-of-14 (42.9 percent) from the three-point line. Hoeppner got to the free-throw stripe 25 times in three games and made 18, while also tallying 18 rebounds, eight assists and two steals. UW-Eau Claire improved to 8-2 in the WIAC and 14-7 overall.

Rabedeaux scored his 1,000th career point in just his third season as a Blugold on Feb. 8, leading the Blugolds to a 75-66 win over UW-Stevens Point, the first time the Blugolds have swept the Pointers in the regular season since 2001. Rabedeaux and the Blugolds also earned a 78-76 road win over UW-Oshkosh on Feb. 5, and now are tied for third in the WIAC standings. He tallied 32 points against the Titans and 23 against UW-Stevens Point. In the two games, Rabedeaux was 18-of-33 from the floor (54.5 percent), 4-of-8 from the three-point range and 15-of-17 (88.2 percent) from the free-throw line. He also tallied 10 rebounds, eight assists and five steals.
