Three Blugolds named Kwik Trip Athletes of the Week

MADISON, Wis. (Blugolds.com) - The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire's Lizzy Cisewski, (Jr.--Stevens Point, Wis./Pacelli), Natalie Wijesinghe,( Sr.--Apple Valley, Minn.), and Hannah Schaetzel, (Jr.--Germantown, WI), have been named Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Kwik Trip Athletes of the Week, as was announced by Assistant Commissioner of Media Relations Matt Stanek.

Cisewski helped the Blugolds place first out of 27 teams at the UW-Eau Claire Blugold Invitational at Whitetail Golf Course near Colfax, Wis., on Oct. 4. She finished eighth out of 343 runners and was the second WIAC finisher behind her teammate, Lexie Tremble, who placed second. Cisewski covered the 6,000-meter course in 22:30, which is 48 seconds faster than she ran last year at the same meet

Wijesinghe went undefeated (2-0) at No. 1 singles during the week, recording the only singles win against NCAA Division II Winona State University (Minn.) on Oct. 4, defeating B. Murman 6-4, 6-3. Wijesinghe also defeated UW-La Crosse's Kimberly Steinert 6-3, 6-2.

Schaetzel scored the game winning goal in a 1-0 victory at Luther College (Iowa) on Oct. 2. Her goal came in the 84th minute of the contest to help the Blugolds improve to 7-3 on the season.
