EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (Blugolds.com) - Two UW-Eau Claire Athletics teams were in action today, women's volleyball at home and women's hockey opening the season on the road.
Women's Volleyball
UW-Whitewater 3, UW-Eau Claire 0 (25-17, 25-15, 25-19)
The women's volleyball team was unable to get a win over UW-Whitewater as the Blugolds fell 3-0 (25-17, 25-15, 25-19) to the 25th-ranked Warhawks in the McPhee Physical Education Center tonight. As a team, Whitewater hit .303 with 49 kills and 13 errors while the Blugolds hit .074 with 26 kills and 18 errors. Katrina Raskie led the Blugolds with eight kills.
Women's Hockey
Bethel (Minn.) 5, UW-Eau Claire 0
The women's hockey team opened the 2014-15 season with a 5-0 setback to Bethel University here tonight at the National Sports Center. The Royals scored two goals in each of the first two periods to take a 4-0 lead. The Blugold offense was unable to find a rhythm as they were outshot 35-11. Forward Sam Knutson led the Blugolds taking three shots.
