EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (Blugolds.com) – The UW-Eau Claire men's hockey team battled it out for a 3-3 overtime tie with UW-Superior.
The Yellowjackets scored the first goal of the night at 5:46 of the first period. It was a power play goal, that found the high stick side of the goal, made possible after Robbie Anderegg (So.-Urbandale, Iowa/Dowling Catholic) was called for tripping. The Blugolds tied it up with their own power play goal at 17:06 when Tyler Romasco (Sr.-Perry, Ohio/Perry) scored his second goal of the season. With seconds left in the first period, the Blugolds pulled ahead and lead 2-1 after Jordan Singer (Jr,-Lino Lakes, Minn./Centennial) snuck one past the goalie.
In the second period, the Yellowjackets tied it up 2-2 on their second power play of the game. The Blugolds did not let the tie last long as they retook their lead at 9:37 when Travis Peckskamp (Jr.-Sauk Rapids, Minn./Sauk Rapids) tipped one off the post.
The Yellowjackets tied it up again in the third period at 3-3 at 3:27. The tie remained through the third period and lead to a five minute overtime period. Neither team was able to get a goal in, in the overtime and the game ended with a 3-3 tie.
Brandon Stephenson (Jr.-Saline, Mich./Saline) got the tie for the Blugolds. He had 35 saves on the night.
The Blugolds will host the College of St. Scholastica Saints in their last night of regular season NCHA play. Game action gets started at 7 p.m. at the Hobbs Ice Center.
