Men's Tennis Earns Bid to NCAA Championship

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (Blugolds.com) - The UW-Eau Claire men's tennis team will join 41 other teams in this year's NCAA Division III Championship, the NCAA announced today.

This is the third year in a row the Blugolds will compete in the NCAA Championship and the fourth time in school history. The Blugolds made their first appearance in the NCAA Tournament during the 1995-96 season. Eau Claire holds a 1-3 record all-time in NCAA postseason play. Before joining the NCAA, the Blugolds appeared in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) national tournament 10 times and won the NAIA District 14 title nine times.

This year, Eau Claire will compete in a six-team, single-elimination regional Friday-Sunday at Gustavus Adolphus College (Minn.) in Saint Peter. Friday the Blugolds will face Grinnell College (Iowa).

Also competing at the regional in Saint Peter are Gustavus, Concordia (Wis.), Trinity (Texas) and Chicago (Ill.).

The finals, hosted by the City of Salem and the Old Dominion Athletic Conference, will be held May 20-24 at the Moyer Complex in Salem, Va.
