Men's Tennis Sweeps Sioux Falls

HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. (Blugolds.com) - The UW-Eau Claire men's tennis team continued its spring break - and seasonal - success with a 9-0 victory over University of Sioux Falls (S.D.) today.

Eric Wollum (Sr.-Eau Claire, Wis./Memorial) made quick work of his No. 3 spot opponent, defeating the challenger 6-0, 6-0. Playing in the No. 1 match, Chris Kuna (Jr.-Edina, Minn.) gave up the next fewest number of games with his 6-4, 6-0 victory. 

The Blugolds picked up three solid wins in doubles play.

Wollum and Dirk Van Rybroek (Jr.-Madison, Wis./Edgewood) in the No. 2 slot and the team of Florent Marco (So.-Eau Claire, Wis./Memorial) and Ryan Vande Linde (Fr.-Eau Claire, Wis./Memorial) in the No. 3 match both claimed 8-1 wins. Playing from the No. 1 spot, Kuna and Lars Olson (Sr.-De Pere, Wis.) also earned a win with a final score of 8-4.

Today's win is the Blugolds' eighth 9-0 win of the season, and improves the team to 16-1 overall.

Tomorrow, Eau Claire will continue its spring trip with a match against Nebraska Wesleyan at 8 a.m. (Eastern).
