Men's Tennis Records Two 6-3 Wins in Illinois

NAPERVILLE, Ill. (Blugolds.com) - The UW-Eau Claire men's tennis team picked up two 6-3 victories, defeating North Central College (Ill.) and Augustana College (Ill.) today at the North Central College tennis courts.

The wins improve the Blugolds' record to 20-2 on the season.

In singles play, Eric Wollum (Sr.-Eau Claire, Wis./Memorial)Florent Marco (So.-Eau Claire, Wis./Memorial) and Ben Robertson (So.-Plymouth, Minn./Robbinsdale Armstrong) all won both of their matches.

Playing in the No. 3 spot, Wollum won 6-0, 6-1 against North Central while picking up a 6-2, 6-4 victory against Augustana.

At No. 4, Marco opened the day with a 6-1, 7-5 victory and followed it up with a 6-3, 6-3 win later.

Robertson competed in the No. 5 spot and picked up 6-2, 6-3 and 6-1, 6-3 victories.

The Blugolds had a more difficult time in doubles play, winning just two out of six matches.

While Augustana swept the Blugolds, Eau Claire won at No. 2 and No. 3 facing North Central.

Wollum and Dirk Van Rybroek (Jr.-Madison, Wis./Edgewood) won 8-1 in the No. 2 spot while Marco and Ryan Vande Linde (Fr.-Eau Claire, Wis./Memorial) won 8-5 at No. 3.

Next up, the Blugolds will face Luther College (Iowa) and Cornell College (Iowa) in Decorah, Iowa. Matches will take place next Saturday beginning at 9 a.m.
