Men's Tennis Rolls Past Ripon

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (Blugolds.com) - The UW-Eau Claire men's tennis team continued its recent domination as the Blugolds picked up another 9-0 victory over Ripon College at the McPhee Physical Education Center this afternoon.

The win marks the Blugolds' third consecutive 9-0 win. In its last five matches, Eau Claire has given up just one doubles event. This success has boosted the Blugolds to a No. 14 regional ranking and 9-1 overall record.

Against Ripon, three Blugolds pulled off 6-0, 6-0 wins in singles competition. No. 4 Bryan Yanagita (Fr.-Minneapolis, Minn./South)Joe Meier (Fr.-Hutchinson, Minn.) in the No. 5 match and No. 6 Brayden Parman (Fr.-Beaver Dam, Wis.) each won their respective matches without giving up a game. The other three singles competitors – Chris Thornton (Sr.-St. Paul, Minn./Cretin-Derham Hall)Ryan Vande Linde (Fr.-Eau Claire, Wis./Memorial) and David Stingley (So.-St. Paul, Minn./Highland Park) – all won their respective matches by giving up just four games.

In doubles play, Parman and Meier scored a perfect 8-0 victory in the No. 3 competition. Thornton and Vande Linde also picked up a strong 8-1 victory in the No. 1 competition while the No. 2 pair Yanagita and Stingley also won by a solid 8-3 margin.

Eau Claire looks to continue its winning streak with two home competitions tomorrow. The Blugolds will take on Simpson College (Iowa) at 9 a.m. and conclude the day with a 4 p.m. matchup against Concordia University (Wis.).
