EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (Blugolds.com) - After picking up two wins Friday, the UW-Eau Claire men's tennis team was unable to repeat its success today, falling 6-3 to UW-Whitewater at the Ade Olson Indoor Tennis Courts.
Eau Claire, ranked 14th regionally, falls to 23-5 on the season while the Warhawks, ranked eighth in the region, improve to 23-4.
Eric Wollum (Sr.-Eau Claire, Wis./Memorial) had an excellent day, and weekend. He won 7-5, 6-2 at No. 3 singles while picking up an 8-6 win at No. 2 doubles with partner Dirk Van Rybroek (Jr.-Madison, Wis./Edgewood). Wollum won all three of his singles and all three of his doubles matches this weekend.
Also winning against the Warhawks was Chris Kuna (Jr.-Edina, Minn.) in the No. 1 singles spot. He finished with a 6-2, 4-6, 10-4 victory.
The Blugolds will wrap up the regular season next Thursday, when they host the College of St. Scholastica. Action will get underway at 2 p.m.
