This year, 622 high school and collegiate teams from around the nation received the award. UW-Eau Claire, which had a cumulative team grade point average of 3.30, was one of 93 NCAA Division III teams to receive the honor.

This is the 11th time in the award's 20-year history the Blugolds achieved the honor. The only other WIAC institution that received the award this season was UW-Platteville. The Blugolds were last recognized for the 2007-08 season.

The award, which was initiated in the 1992-93 academic year, honors collegiate and high school volleyball teams that displayed excellence in the classroom during the school year by maintaining at least a 3.30 cumulative team grade-point average on a 4.0 scale or a 4.10 cumulative team GPA on a 5.0 scale.
