Volleyball Defeats UW-Oshkosh in Regular Season Home Finale

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (Blugolds.com) – Playing in its final regular season home match, the UW-Eau Claire women's volleyball team recorded a 3-0 victory over UW-Oshkosh in the McPhee Physical Education Center today.

Eau Claire had little trouble with the Titans in the first and third sets, though the second set was closely contested.

In the first set, Eau Claire quickly jumped out to a 9-2 lead and built a 20-9 advantage before winning 25-11.

The second set started out close but the Blugolds eventually found their way to a 17-10 lead. However, the Titans turned up the pressure and outscored the Blugolds 12-4 over the next few minutes to take a 22-21 lead. But the Blugolds were able to come back and outscored the Titans the rest of the way 4-1 to take the 25-23 victory.

In the final set, Eau Claire again started strong and built a 15-6 advantage. The Blugolds then worked their way to a 25-13 set win and a 3-0 match victory.

In a match where the Blugolds outhit the Titans .320-.105, Kelly Schuh (Jr.-Appleton, Wis./Hortonville) finished with a match-high 15 kills and a .481 attack percentage. Anne Satterlee (Sr.-Green Bay, Wis./Ashwaubenon) also reached double figures in kills with 10 while the team totaled 45.

Lauren Sutherland (Jr.-Dayton, Minn./Meadow Creek Christian) led the match with 18 digs and Emily Neave (Sr.-Salem, Wis./Westosha Central) recorded a match-high 37 set assists.

Eau Claire improves to 16-9 overall and 2-2 in conference play. Oshkosh is 13-11 on the season and 1-3 in the WIAC.

Wednesday, the Blugolds will be at UW-Superior for a conference matchup beginning at 7 p.m.
