Volleyball Pushes Win Streak to Seven at Elmhurst Tourney

ELMHURST, Ill. (Blugolds.com) – The UW-Eau Claire volleyball team won two matches at the Elmhurst College Tournament in Illinois today, increasing its winning streak to seven.

The Blugolds (20-9) defeated North Park University (Ill.) 3-0 (25-17, 26-24, 25-22) to start the day and then closed with a 3-1 (25-18, 23-25, 25-12, 25-19) victory over Millikin University (Ill.).

Against North Park, the Blugolds compiled 32 kills. Anna Hildebrandt (Fr.-New Ulm, Minn.) and Alexis Wong (So.-Maple Grove, Minn.) led the team with seven kills each.

Jamie Dimka (Fr.-Wausau, Wis./East) had 14 digs and four service aces to lead Eau Claire while Jenna Smits (Fr.-Green Bay, Wis./Preble) had a team-best 26 set assists.

Facing Millikin, Anne Satterlee (Sr.-Green Bay, Wis./Ashwaubenon) led the Blugolds as she recorded a career-high 23 kills. As a team, Eau Claire finished with 55 kills.

Lauren Sutherland (Jr.-Dayton, Minn./Meadow Creek Christian) had a team-best 18 digs and Emily Neave (Sr.-Salem, Wis./Westosha Central) finished with 45 set assists to lead the team.

Saturday the Blugolds will face two nationally ranked opponents. They play ninth-ranked University of Chicago (Ill.) at 1 p.m. and will close the tournament against host and 10th-ranked Elmhurst College (Ill.) at 3 p.m.
