Volleyball Snaps Seven Game Win Streak, Suffers Two Losses

ELMHURST, Ill. (Blugolds.com) – The UW-Eau Claire volleyball team came up short at the second and final day of the Elmhurst College Tournament in Illinois today. The Blugolds faced two nationally ranked squads, losing both matches and snapping a seven game winning streak. The team went 2-2 in tournament play this weekend.  

The Blugolds (20-11) faced the ninth-ranked University of Chicago (Ill.) and came up short, falling in four sets (13-25, 25-22, 19-25, 22-25). They then closed the day with a 3-0 (14-25, 21-25, 20-25) loss over tenth-ranked Elmhurst College (Ill.).

Against Chicago, the Blugolds compiled 47 kills and 64 digs. Anne Satterlee (Sr.-Green Bay, Wis./Ashwaubenon) led the team with 17 kills and Lauren Sutherland (Jr.-Dayton, Minn./Meadow Creek Christian) added 18 digs.

Versus Elmhurst, Satterlee once again led the team in kills with ten. Sutherland had twelve of the team's 49 digs, while teammate Kelly Schuh (Jr.-Appleton, Wis./Hortonville)  added eleven more. Emily Neave (Sr.-Salem, Wis./Westosha Central) came up big with 26 of the Blugolds' 28 set assists.

Eau Claire will be back in action on Friday, Oct. 26 as it takes on conference rival UW-La Crosse. The match begins at 7 p.m.
