MADISON, Wis. (Blugolds.com) – Three UW-Eau Claire women's volleyball players were named first team All-Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) selections, led by Anne Satterlee (Sr.-Green Bay, Wis./Ashwaubenon) who was named WIAC Player of the Year, the conference announced today.
Satterlee ranks third in the WIAC with 4.10 points per set, fourth with 3.33 kills per set and sixth with a .272 hitting percentage. A first team selection for the second straight year, Satterlee produced at least 10 kills in 23 of the 30 matches that she has played during the 2012 campaign, including a season-high 23 against Millikin University (Ill.) on Oct. 19. She also registered seven double-doubles (kills-digs).
Her selection marks the second straight season - and third overall - that a Blugold has received the conference's Player of the Year trophy. Liz Amici was selected in 2011 while Abby Freiborg was honored in 2008.
Also receiving first team honors this year were Amy Bomgren (Sr.-Woodbury, Minn.) and Emily Neave (Sr.-Salem, Wis./Westosha Central).
Bomgren leads the Blugolds and is third in the WIAC with 3.54 kills per set this season. She is also fourth on the team and 11th in the league with 0.30 service aces per set.
Neave leads the team and is third in the conference averaging 10.59 set assists per set. She has a total of 1,356 assists this season. Neave also ranks 20th in the conference and fifth on the team with 0.24 service aces per set.
Named to the All-Sportsmanship Team was Lauren Sutherland (Jr.-Dayton, Minn./Meadow Creek Christian). The All-Sportsmanship Team was chosen for individuals that displayed exemplary sportsmanship throughout the season. It included one member from each school. This year Sutherland leads the Blugolds and is fifth in the conference with 4.54 digs per set. She is also third on the team and 10th in the WIAC with 0.31 service aces per set.
