Three Blugolds Named WIAC Athletes of the Week

MADISON, Wis. (Blugolds.com) – Three UW-Eau Claire student-athletes have been named Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Athletes of the Week, WIAC Assistant Commissioner for Media Relations Matt Stanek announced today.

Selected this week were women's cross country member Dana Griepentrog (Jr.-Mequon, Wis./Homestead), men's cross country runner Christian Leitner (Fr.-Red Wing, Minn.) and volleyball player Anne Satterlee (Sr.-Green Bay, Wis./Ashwaubenon).

Griepentrog was the top collegiate finisher at the UW-Eau Claire Lake Wissota Invitational on Oct. 19, finishing second overall with a 5K time of 19:06.

Leitner was the top collegiate finisher at the UW-Eau Claire Lake Wissota Invitational on Oct. 19, finishing second overall with an 8K time of 26:27.

Playing in four out of five matches during the week, Satterlee helped the Blugolds to two wins in the matches she played while the team compiled a 3-2 record. Competing in three matches at the Elmhurst College (Ill.) Tournament, Satterlee led the Blugolds in kills each time. Against Millikin University (Ill.) on Oct. 19, a match the Blugolds won 3-1, she finished with a career-high 23 kills. Although the Blugolds dropped two matches to nationally-ranked opponents on Oct. 20, Satterlee led UW-Eau Claire with 17 kills against No. 9-ranked University of Chicago (Ill.) and 10 against No. 10-ranked Elmhurst College (Ill.). In a 3-0 win over UW-River Falls on Oct. 17, she finished with nine kills, tying for second most on the team. For the week, Satterlee accumulated 59 kills, 35 digs, 11 set assists, eight block assists and four service aces.
