Women's Tennis Wins Two Conference Duals

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (Blugolds.com) – The UW-Eau Claire women's tennis team picked up two Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) wins this weekend, competing on the indoor courts in the Ade Olson Addition of the McPhee Physical Education Center.

On Friday, the Blugolds defeated UW-Stevens Point 9-0 while scoring an 8-1 victory over UW-Oshkosh on Saturday.

The lone match the Blugolds lost was at No. 6 singles on Saturday against the Titans.

In doubles play, Gretchen Bachmeier (Sr.-Eau Claire, Wis./North) and Maddie Johnson (So.-Lakeville, Minn./South) lost the fewest games over the weekend, just six, as the pair won 8-2 Friday and 8-4 Saturday in the No. 2 spot.

On the singles side, Johnson lost the fewest number of games this weekend, only five, playing in the No. 4 position. She picked up a 6-0, 6-1 win Friday against the Pointers and a 6-2, 6-2 victory over the Titans on Saturday.

Eau Claire is now 8-1 on the season and 4-1 in the WIAC.

The Blugolds will be back in action next weekend for two more matches. They will be at Winona State University (Minn.) Friday at 3 p.m. and will then be at UW-La Crosse at 10 a.m. Saturday.
