Women's Soccer announces team awards

Eau Claire, Wis. (Blugolds.com) – The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire women's soccer team have announced their end of season team awards.

Defensive Player of the Year: Anna Sveiven

Offensive Player of the Year: Hannah Schaetzel

Most Valuable Player: Emily Sullivan

Playmaker of the Year: Emma Stange

Newcomer of the Year: Kiki Kussow

Most Improved: Maggie Conway

Golden Shoe: Grace Kolpin

Practice Player of the Year: Megan Hansen

Competitive Cauldron Champion: Emma Stange

Goaltender Anna Sveiven (Jr. – Blaine, MN/Centennial) recorded over 15000 minutes in net for the Blugolds this season making 105 saves and recording 12 wins. With a goals average of 0.80, Sveiven had a career high season in all categories in just her third year with Eau Claire.

Hannah Schaetzal (Jr. – Germantown, WI) controlled the midfield for Eau Claire this season recording four goals and two assists through 20 games. In her 12 games she started, Schaetzel also posted two game winning goals for the Blugolds.

Emily Sullivan (Sr. – Medina, MN/Wayzata) was named to the All-WIAC First team and All-Region team for the 2019 season. Sullivan's offensive power helped Eau Claire to the most goals scored by the team in five years (46). She also led all Blugolds with assists (5) and shots on goal (28) to conclude her Blugold career.

Emma Stange (So. – Andover, MN/Anoka) also received All-WIAC First team honors after recording three goals and four assists in just her second season with the Blugold squad. Stange also contributed the lone goal in Blugolds postseason play. 

Kiki Kussow (Fr. – Green Bay, WI/Notre Dame) was one of four first year players named to the All-WIAC First team this season. Kussow and the rest of the Blugold defense posted nine shutouts throughout the year.

Maggie Conway (Fr. – Mount Horeb, WI) capped off the regular season with a two-goal performance against UW-Stout in her first year with the Blugolds.

Grace Kolpin (Jr. – Plymouth, MN/Wayzata) was named the Golden Shoe recipient, the team's "unsung hero" of the year. After playing in 20 games this season, Kolpin and the Eau Claire back line helped establish a goals against average of 0.79 throughout the season.

Megan Hansen (Fr. – Andover, MN/Anoka) recorded three goals on 17 shots in her first season with Eau Claire.                                                                              

Next season's captains were also selected: Maddie Ames (Jr. – Shakopee, MN), Anna Kautzman (Jr. – Champlin, MN), Anna Larson (Jr. – Lakevillle, MN/North), Stange, and Sveiven.
