Eau Claire, Wis. (Blugolds.com) – The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire women's soccer team hosted the College of Saint Benedict on Saturday afternoon. Despite getting outshot, the Blugolds came out strong with a 3-1 win and Anna Sveiven (Jr. – Blaine, MN/Centennial) recorded her third win on the season.

Box Score

The Blugolds would strike right before halftime thanks to an interception by Courtney Slowinski (Fr. – Byron, MN) who passed the ball right to Megan Hansen (Fr. – Andover, MN/Anoka) for the game's first tally. The goal also credited Hansen with her first collegiate point as a Blugold.

In the second half, Eau Claire used their momentum from their lead to net the second goal of the day. Krista Koenig (So. – Ringle, WI/DC Everest) would find open space on a corner kick and found the back of the net off a header. That would be Koenig's first of the year as well.

Just before the final whistle, the Blugolds sealed the deal with a strike from Emma Stange (So. – Andover, MN/Anoka) to put Eau Claire up 3-1. The goal would be the final ball to reach the back of the net on either side as Eau Claire defeated Saint Ben's for the first time in eight years.

Anna Sveiven saved 16 of the 17 shots she faced and improved her record to 3-2-0.

Eau Claire will be back in action on Wednesday, September 18th as they travel to Northland College for a 6:00 PM kickoff.
