EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (blugolds.com) - The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire soccer team came out victorious on Sunday afternoon, beating Central (Iowa), 3-0.

Box Score

The Blugolds opened up their scoring with a goal in the 23rd minute from Megan Hansen (Fr.-Andover, MN/Anoka), her third on the season. The assist came from Courtney Slowinski (Fr.-Byron, MN), also her third of the fall.

Eau Claire would add two more goals as insurance in the second half, with one in the 64th minute and another seconds before the end of the match. Krista Koenig (So.-Ringle, WI/D.C. Everest) was the goal scorer in the 64th, able to sneak a penalty kick past the Central goaltender. Slowinski capped off the scoring, with a fabulous run and finish as time expired.

Goalkeeper Anna Sveiven (Jr.-Blaine, MN/Centennial) was once again a force in net, shutting out the opponent for the fourth time this season. She added five saves, with all of them coming in the first half.

The win helped the Blugolds improve to 5-3 on the season. They will now begin a four-game road stretch that begins this Wednesday against St. Olaf. That stretch will also include their Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference opener versus UW-Whitewater on October 5th.
