Blugolds shut out Wildcats to earn first win

ST. PAUL, Minn. (Blugolds.com) – The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire soccer team picked up their first win of the season on Sunday, defeating St. Catherine University, 1-0.

The Blugold defense came up big in their first win as the Wildcats out-shot UW-Eau Claire 18-4 in the contest but would be denied as the Blugolds earned the shutout.

After a scoreless first half, Eau Claire's Emily Sullivan (Sr.- Medina, MN/Wayzata) tallied the game-winner on an unassisted goal at the 70:21 mark.

Anna Sveiven (Jr. – Blaine, MN/Centennial) picked up the win in goal, recording 12 saves on the day to even her record to 1-1.
