Liz Amici Receives Second-Team All-American Honors

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Blugolds.com) – UW-Eau Claire volleyball player Liz Amici (Sr.-Whitewater, Wis.) has been named a 2011 American Volleyball Coaches Association Second-Team All-American, the organization announced today.

During her senior campaign, Amici led the Blugolds in kills (348) and blocks (152), en route to the school's seventh straight NCAA Division III Tournament appearance and their second straight WIAC championship. Amici was also named WIAC Player of the Year.

Amici's 152 blocks this season is a mark that ranks fourth in school archives for most blocks in a season. She finished her career with 418 total blocks, which ranks third all-time in school history.

This is the first time Amici is being honored as an AVCA All-American. She joins just 16 others in program history to have received recognition as an All-American. The last time a Blugold was honored by the AVCA was in 2008.
