Volleyball Sweeps Day One of Slagell Classic

DECATUR, Ill. (Blugolds.com) – The UW-Eau Claire volleyball team won both of its matches 3-0 at the Slagell Classic hosted by Millikin University (Ill.) today.

It took just six sets for the Blugolds to record two match victories, pushing the Blugolds' current win streak to six matches.

Eau Claire defeated Benedictine-Springfield (Ill.) in tight sets of 25-21, 25-17 and 25-23. The Blugolds took down MacMurray College (Ill.) 25-15, 25-20 and 25-13.

Emily Neave (Jr.-Salem, Wis./Westosha Central) led with 27 assists in the first match and 16 in the second. Neave and Alexis Wong (Fr.- Maple Grove, MN) each recorded eight digs in the first match for the most on the night.

Laura Slinger (Sr.-Faribault, Minn./Bethlehem Academy) and Megan Tracy (Fr.-New Hope, Minn./Robbinsdale Cooper) led with 10 kills apiece in the respective matches.

The Blugolds improve to 15-11 on the season. Eau Claire will continue competition in the Slagell Classic tomorrow, starting with a 10 a.m. match against host Millikin.
