Women's Golf Wins Wartburg College Fall Invitational

WAVERLY, Iowa (Blugolds.com) - The third-ranked UW-Eau Claire women's golf team won its second straight tournament, taking first place of 19 teams at the Wartburg College Fall Invitational at Centennial Oaks Golf Course today.

The Blugolds won with 648 strokes, 13 better than the second place finisher, Washington University-St. Louis (Mo.). Gustavus Adolphus College (Minn.), ranked No. 2 in the nation, finished in third place with 674 strokes.

Washington's Hannah Buck took medalist honors with 151 after shooting par (72) on the second day.

Emily Swift (Jr.-Onalaska, Wis.) led the Blugolds as she took third overall with 157 strokes. Katie Maurer (Jr.-Forest Lake, Minn./Convent of the Visitation) tied for fourth with 162.

Catherine Wagner (So.-Austin, Minn.) had today's best round for the Blugolds as she shot a 79 for a two-day total of 165. She tied for ninth place.

All seven Blugolds competing at the tournament finished tied for 13th place or better.

Next up, the Blugolds will head to South Bend, Ind. for the O'Brien NCAA Preview, hosted by Saint Mary's. The tournament will start Sunday and conclude Monday.
