Women's Golf Leads at Wartburg Invite

WAVERLY, Iowa (Blugolds.com) - After the first day of competition, No. 3 UW-Eau Claire leads the 19 team field at the Wartburg College Fall Women's Golf Invitational.

The Blugolds combined for a total of 329 strokes, 45 above par for the Centennial Oaks Golf Course. The team leads second place Gustavus Adolphus (Minn.) and third place Wartburg College (Iowa) by 14 and 18 strokes, respectively.

Emily Swift ended the first day atop the individual standings after shooting 77, six strokes above par. Lauren Gault, playing individually, shot a 79 to tie for second while Katie Maurer tallied 80 strokes for fourth place. All seven Blugolds playing in the tournament finished solidly in the top 25 golfers.

The final 18 holes of the invitational will resume tomorrow at 8 a.m.
