Women's Golf Leads at Carleton Spring Invite

NORTHFIELD, Minn. (Blugolds.com) - The UW-Eau Claire women's golf team leads by seven strokes after round one of the Carleton College Spring Invitational at Northfield Golf Club today.

Eau Claire recorded 337 strokes for first while Gustavus Adolphus College (Minn.) is in second with 344. The College of St. Benedict is in third with 347.

In the 53-golfer field, Central College's Sarah Paulson led with 79 strokes (+7). She was the lone golfer from Central competing in the tournament.

Katie Maurer (Jr.-Forest Lake, Minn./Convent of the Visitation) led Eau Claire with 80 strokes and is in second place overall.

Tied for sixth is Catherine Wagner (So.-Austin, Minn.) with 84 while Emily Swift (Jr.-Onalaska, Wis.) is tied for ninth with 86 strokes.

Lauren Gault (Jr.-Shorewood, Wis.)Jamie Hauser (Jr.-Hartland, Wis./Arrowhead) and Sara Mattes (Jr.-La Crosse, Wis./Central) are all tied for 12th place with 87 and Katie Swift (Sr.-Onalaska, Wis.) shot 89, tied for 20th.

The tournament will conclude tomorrow.
