Maurer & Wagner to Compete in NGCA Team Championship

CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. (Blugolds.com) - UW-Eau Claire women's golfers Catherine Wagner (Fr.-Austin, Minn.) and Katie Maurer (So.-Forest Lake, Minn./Convent of the Visitation) have been selected to compete in the 1st Annual Hooters Women's Collegiate Team Championship Presented by the National Golf Coaches Association. The event is set to begin Tuesday, August 3 at Achasta, By Reynolds in Dahlonega, Georgia.

Fifty-five (55) two-person teams will be competing comprised of top current women's collegiate golfers. Each team will pair players from the same university in a 54-hole stroke play event.

The format of the Championship is Day 1 (Aug. 3): Alternate Shot; Day 2 (Aug. 4): Best Ball; and Day 3 (Aug. 5): Aggregate Score of the two players. Teams are comprised of players from all levels of collegiate golf including 42 Division I, four Division II, six Division III and one NAIA program.

Maurer and Wagner led the Blugolds last season, averaging 79.5 and 80 strokes per round, respectively. Maurer won three tournaments, including claiming WIAC Championship medalist honors, while Wagner won one tournament and finished in the top five at four other tournaments.
