Women's Golf Moves up on Third Day of Championship

HOWEY-IN-THE-HILLS, Fla. (Blugolds.com) - The UW-Eau Claire women's golf team moved up one spot in a tie for 10th place on the third day of the 2011 NCAA Championship at Mission Inn Golf & Tennis Resort.

The Blugolds now have 1,016 strokes for the tournament and are tied with Olivet College (Mich.). Methodist University (N.C.) still leads the field with 966 strokes while Gustavus Adolphus College (Minn.) has 978, in second place. Illinois Wesleyan University is third with 991.

Individually, Methodist's Paige Caldwell remains in first place with 232 strokes, three ahead of the rest of the field.

Catherine Wagner (So.-Austin, Minn.), who was tied for second after two rounds, dropped into a tie for ninth place today. She has 243 strokes through three rounds.

Sara Mattes (Jr.-La Crosse, Wis./Central) and Jamie Hauser (Jr.-Hartland, Wis./Arrowhead) are both tied for 49th place with 259 strokes while Emily Swift (Jr.-Onalaska, Wis.) is tied for 54th with 260. Tied for 73rd with 267 strokes is Katie Maurer (Jr.-Forest Lake, Minn./Convent of the Visitation).

The Blugolds will begin teeing off for the final day of nationals at 8:50 a.m. (Eastern).
