Men's Golf Takes Fourth at Augsburg Invite

HAM LAKE, Minn. (Blugolds.com) - After two days of competition, the UW-Eau Claire men's golf team rallied to tie for fourth place in the Augsburg Fall Invitational.

The Blugolds were 12th out of 19 teams competing yesterday, but stepped it up in the final round of play to tie for fourth place with 627 strokes, 51 over par. Gustavus Adolphus won the event with a final count of 611 strokes while St. John's University claimed second with 614 strokes. The University of St. Thomas earned third with a count of 616 while the second St. John's team also tallied 627 strokes.

Loren Churness (Sr.-Durand, Wis.) and Nick Weber (Jr.-Hartland, Wis./Arrowhead), who participated individually, led Eau Claire with a two-day total of 154 strokes to tie for 11th place. Two other Blugolds, Jamie Krula (Jr.-Chippewa Falls, Wis./Chi-Hi) and Tim McCormick (So.-Madison, Wis./Memorial) also cracked the top 30 individual standings, totaling 156 and 158 strokes to tie for 20th and 28th, respectively.

Next weekend, the Blugolds will compete in the St. John's Fall Invitational in Sauk Centre, Minn. Saturday's event is scheduled to begin at 9:30 a.m.
