Men's Golf Moves up at NCAA Championship

GREENSBORO, N.C. (Blugolds.com) - The UW-Eau Claire men's golf team moved up one spot to tie for 12th place out of 40 teams after the second day of the 2011 NCAA Championship at Grandover Resort & Conference Center.

The Blugolds finished with 300 strokes during round two for a total of 599 after two rounds of play. Saint John's University (Minn.) leads the field with 577 strokes while Greensboro (N.C.) is second with 580 and Texas Lutheran University is third with 584. The field will now be cut from 40 teams to 15 teams for the final two rounds.

Tim McCormick (So.-Madison, Wis./Memorial) finished with 73 strokes today for a total of 145 over the first two days. McCormick leads the Blugolds as he is tied for 19th place.

Jamie Krula (Jr.-Chippewa Falls, Wis./Chi-Hi) moved up significantly from being tied for 77th after day one to tie for 37th after recording 72 strokes today. He has a two-day total of 148.

Jimmy Hutchings (Jr.-Hudson, Wis.) is tied for 91st with 153, Loren Churness (Sr.-Durand, Wis.) is tied for 108th with 155 strokes and Ben Brooks (Fr.-Beaver Dam, Wis.) is tied for 145th with 159 strokes.

Leading the 205-golfer field is Chris Morris from Centre College with 132 strokes. He finished with 65 strokes today.

The Blugolds will begin teeing off for day three of the championship tomorrow beginning at 8:50 a.m. (Eastern).
