Men's Golf Closes Regular Season on Positive Note

MIDDLETON, Wis. (Blugolds.com) - The UW-Eau Claire men's golf team wrapped up the regular season winning the 2011 Edgewood College Spring Quadrangular at Bishop's Bay Country Club today.

The Blugolds golfed very well, finishing with 291 strokes (+3). MSOE took second with 303 while UW-Stout was third with 310 and Edgewood was fourth with 312.

Taking home medalist honors was Eau Claire's Jake Erickson (Fr.-Chaska, Minn./Academy Of Holy Angels). He finished with 70 strokes (-2), golfing as an individual.

As a team, the Blugolds showed their strength with six individuals tying for eighth or better.

Jamie Krula (Jr.-Chippewa Falls, Wis./Chi-Hi) was third with 72 strokes while Ben Brooks (Fr.-Beaver Dam, Wis.)Loren Churness (Sr.-Durand, Wis.) and Tim McCormick (So.-Madison, Wis./Memorial) all tied for fourth with 73.

Eau Claire will now wait until early next week to find out if they are selected to the NCAA Championship, which will be held May 10-13 at Grandover Resort in Greensboro, North Carolina.
