Men's Golf Takes Third at Bobby Krig Invitational

LESUEUR, Minn. (Blugolds.com) - The UW-Eau Claire men's golf team took third place out of 16 teams after three rounds at the Bobby Krig Invitational hosted by Gustavus Adolphus College.

St. John's University won top honors with 875 strokes while Gustavus was second with 879. The Blugolds finished with 882. A season ago, the Blugolds tied for sixth place at the tournament.

Leading the field of 87 golfers was Peyton Olson of UW-Stout. He finished with a score of 215 (+3).

Jimmy Hutchings (Jr.-Hudson, Wis.) had the Blugolds' best finish, tying for second with 216 strokes.

Also in the top five for Eau Claire was Tim McCormick (So.-Madison, Wis./Memorial), who tied for fifth with 218 strokes. Jamie Krula (Jr.-Chippewa Falls, Wis./Chi-Hi) finished tied for 14th with 222.

Ben Brooks (Fr.-Beaver Dam, Wis.) and Loren Churness (Sr.-Durand, Wis.) were also in action for Eau Claire and finished tied for 39th and tied for 45th, respectively.

Next up, the Blugolds will compete at the St. John's Invitational this Friday and Saturday.
