Men's Golf Finishes Fourth at Frank Wrigglesworth Invite

NEW RICHMOND, Wis. (Blugolds.com) - The UW-Eau Claire men's golf team took fourth place out of 13 teams at its own Frank Wrigglesworth Blugold Collegiate Invitational at New Richmond Golf Club today.

The Blugolds shot 313 today for a two-round total of 618. Saint John's University (Minn.) won the invite with a 591 (+15) after recording a round-two best of 289. Gustavus Adolphus College (Minn.) took second with 608 while UW-Stout was third with 610.

Saint John's Dennis Granath took medalist honors with a 143 (-1).

Loren Churness (Sr.-Durand, Wis.) led the Blugolds after tying for third with 147 strokes. The second best finisher for the Blugolds was Jake Erickson (Fr.-Chaska, Minn./Academy Of Holy Angels), who tied for fifth with 149 strokes. Erickson golfed for the Blugolds' second team, which finished with 624 strokes to tie for sixth.

Also golfing for the Blugolds' first team was Ryan Grip (Sr.-Wausau, Wis./East) and Jamie Krula (Jr.-Chippewa Falls, Wis./Chi-Hi), who both tied for 36th with 158 strokes. Tim McCormick (So.-Madison, Wis./Memorial) tied for 48th with 160 and Jimmy Hutchings (Jr.-Hudson, Wis.) tied for 59th with 163.

Next up, the Blugolds will be at the Milwaukee School of Engineering Fall Invitational. Competition is slated for Sunday and Monday.
