EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (Blugolds.com) - Four UW-Eau Claire Athletics teams were in action today, all on the road.

Women's Cross Country

Saint Mary's Invitational - 1st of 5

The Blugolds swept the top three spots at the Saint Mary's Invitational and took seven of the first 12 spots in the race to cruise to 22 team points and the team title. Eau Claire was 35 points ahead of second-place UW-La Crosse in the five team race. Blugold Melody Becker crossed the line in first place with a time of 24:44.2 over the duration of 6,000 meters.

Men's Cross Country

Saint Mary's Invitational - 2nd of 5

The men's cross country took second place out of five teams at the Saint Mary's Invitational in Winona, Minn. UW-La Crosse won the team title. Steven Schimmel broke up La Crosse's scoring by placing fourth overall in a time of 27:49.3 over 8,000 meters.

Volleyball

Washington University-St. Louis (Mo.) 3, UW-Eau Claire 0 (25-11, 25-16, 25-23)

The volleyball team ended its five-match winning streak by falling to ninth-ranked Washington University-St. Louis (Mo.) at the Washington University Tournament today. The Blugolds had a tough time getting things going in the first two sets, which they dropped 25-11 and 25-16, but played the Bears closer in the third set although they still came up short 25-23. The Blugolds had their poorest hitting performance of the season tonight, just .029 with 23 kills and 20 errors. Katrina Raskie and Kelly Schuh tied for a team-high six kills.

Men's Tennis

The men's tennis team is competing at the ITA Tournament in St. Peter, Minn. this weekend. Action got underway Friday and concludes Sunday.
