EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (Blugolds.com) - Three UW-Eau Claire Athletics teams were in action today with the women's hockey and basketball teams at home while the men's basketball team was on the road.

Women's Hockey

UW-Eau Claire 4, Hamline University (Minn.) 3

While Hamline struck first tonight, the women's hockey team tied it up by the end of the first period and scored another goal in the second period to lead 2-1. In the third period, the Blugolds scored two more goals to take a 4-1 and despite giving up two goals to Hamline, the Blugolds were able to hold on for the win. Hamline narrowly outshot the Blugolds 36-34.

Women's Basketball

UW-Stevens Point 60, UW-Eau Claire 50

The women's basketball team and UW-Stevens Point played close the entire way but the Pointers were able to come out on top, winning 60-50 on Ken Anderson Court in Zorn Arena tonight. The teams went back and forth the entire night. In the second half, the Blugolds led by as many as four points, three times, while Stevens Point led by as many as 10 points at the very end. The score was also tied three times in the second half for a total of six times on the night. While the Pointers won by 10, they led by just four points with less than one minute remaining. Six of their points at the end came from free throws within the final minute. Teenie Lichtfuss led Eau Claire with 14 points.

Men's Basketball

UW-Stevens Point 74, UW-Eau Claire 50

Taking on No. 1-ranked UW-Stevens Point, the men's basketball team kept it close early but couldn't keep the pace as the Blugolds fell 74-50 on Bennett Court tonight. During the first seven minutes of the game, the score was tied five time and the Blugolds led seven minutes into the half. But the Blugolds had a scoreless stretch of nearly seven minutes and couldn't recover from there as Stevens Point had a 13-0 run. Lewis Mau led the Blugolds in scoring with nine points.
