LEXINGTON, Ky. (Blugolds.com) – The United States Marine Corps (USMC) and American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) announced the 2019-20 USMC/AVCA Team Academic Awards on Monday. With 1,313 teams from the NCAA, NAIA, and NJCAA to be recognized, the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire volleyball team earned their spot on the list for their academic success.
The award, initiated in the 1992-93 academic year, honors volleyball teams that maintain a year-long grade-point average of 3.30 on a 4.0 scale or 4.10 on a 5.0 scale.
The Blugolds earned themselves a cumulative 3.65 GPA over the course of last year and was named to the AVCA Team Academic Honor Roll as one of the top-49 teams with the highest GPA in Division III.
Six of the eight Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) volleyball teams earned Team Academic Awards, but only UW-Eau Claire and UW-Stout were named to the Honor Roll.
