In the first match, the Blugolds started hot with a 10-5 run that was capped off with back-to-back aces from Sheridan Dettmann (Fr. – Watertown, WI). Eau Claire would fall in the second set, but strong defensive play sparked an eight-point run that would give them the momentum in the third set. Mackenzie Bachmann (Jr. – Chaska, MN) would record her first aces of the season to put the Blugolds back on top to end the third set.

The final set showed a back and forth battle between the teams, but the final points for Eau Claire would come from Abby Volk (So. – Willmar, MN) as she recorded nine kills in the match to defeat CNU.

In the second matchup of the day, the Blugolds would take it to Marymount University, winning in three straight sets. The Blugolds took command early, thanks to a ten-point run. Arianna Barrett (So. – Lakeville, MN/North) recorded 7 of her 12 kills.

The following two sets would be dominated by Eau Claire as they outscored their opponents 50 to 30 to cap off their second game of the day.

Eau Claire will finish the tournament weekend against No. 3 Juniata on Saturday, August 31st at 10 a.m. CST.
