Blugold women place 2nd, men third at WIAC Championships

OSHKOSH, Wis. (Blugolds.com) – The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire track and field teams won three events on the second day of the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic conference (WIAC) Championship (presented by Culver's) on Friday. The women's squad placed second overall with a score of 127.5 and the men's team placed third with score of 119.666.

For the women, the 1600m relay of Rosalie Campbell (Jr. – Germantown, WI), Cassidy Eiers (So. – Glendale, WI/Nicolet), Alaina Syverson (Jr. – River Falls, WI), and Lizzy Keena (Jr. – Wisconsin Rapids, WI/Lincoln) clocked in with a time of 4:02.58 to earn second place honors.

Kady Kochendorfer (So. – Hudson, WI) placed second in the triple jump with a distance of 11.51m.

Marin Munos (Jr. – Oswego, IL/Aurora West) slotted into second place in the high jump with a distance of 1.59m and also took second place for the long jump (5.11m).

Megan Wallace (Jr. – Burlington, WI) placed first in the pentathlon with 3418 points. She was first in the shot put (11.50m), second in the 800m run (2:33.65), second in the 60m hurdles (9.09), and third in the high jump (1.56m).

For the men, Dylan Cooper (Sr. -Holmen, WI) placed in first for the Heptathlon with 5441 points which ties the NCAA DIII record. Cooper also was first in the 60m hurdles (8.29), first in the 1000m race (2:47.41), second in the pole vault (4.61m) second in the long jump (6.70m), second in the shot put (12.95m), third in the high jump (1.94m),

Abrahm Schroedl (Jr. – De Forest, WI) placed second in the heptathlon. He was first in the long jump (6.74m), first in the pole vault (4.61m) second in the high jump (2.03m), and fourth in the shot put (12.13m).

Kyler Lueck (Sr. – Germantown, WI/Wisconsin Lutheran) placed first in the 800m race with a clocked time of 1:51.80.

Eau Claire's 1600m relay team of KJ Munn (Sr. – Bayport, MN/St. Croix Preparatory Academy) , Hunter Henk (Sr. – Beldenville, WI/River Falls), Jordan Lijewski (So. – Roseville, MN), Dietrich Schwoerer (So. – McFarland, WI) secured first place honors with a time of 3:15.80.

Chris Anderson (Jr. -Sister Bay, WI/Gibraltar) came in second place in the weight throw with a distance of 18.08m while, Mitch Stegeman (Fr. – Coleman, WI/Suring) placed second in the 1000m race with a time of 2:48.19.

Jordan Lacey (Jr. – Greenville, WI/St. Mary Central) was second in the 60m with a distance of 7.12.

The Blugolds will travel to Wartburg College (IA) on Saturday, March 7th, for the Last Chance Meet. Events begin at 10:30AM and will be held at the Hoover Field House & Indoor Track in Waverly, IA.
