Men's Tennis Wins 8-1 Over St. Scholastica

DULUTH, Minn. (Blugolds.com) – The UW-Eau Claire men's tennis team defeated the College of St. Scholastica (Minn.) 8-1 at the Arrowhead Tennis Center today.

The Blugolds swept singles competition and won two out of three doubles matches.

In singles play, the Blugolds had little trouble winning four of the six matches. Chris Kuna (Sr.-Edina, Minn.) and Ryan Vande Linde (So.-Eau Claire, Wis./Memorial) lost just one game each as they won 6-1, 6-0 at No. 1 and No. 2, respectively. The No. 5 and No. 6 matches were closely contested but the Blugolds came away with wins in both.

On the doubles side, Kuna and Joey Minear (Fr.-Oronoco, Minn./Rochester Century) won 8-3 in the No. 1 spot while David Stingley (Jr.-St. Paul, Minn./Highland Park) and Michael Roden (Fr.-Eau Claire, Wis./Memorial) won 8-6 at No. 3.

Eau Claire is now 15-7 on the season while the Saints drop to 10-7.

Sunday the Blugolds will host Edgewood College in a competition beginning at 2 p.m.
