Men's Tennis Splits in Minnesota Saturday

SAINT PETER, Minn. (Blugolds.com) – The UW-Eau Claire men's tennis team won once and lost once competing in Saint Peter, Minn. today.

Eau Claire opened the day with a 9-0 loss to 21st-ranked Gustavus Adolphus College (Minn.) on the Gusties' home court but recovered to beat NCAA Division II opponent Augustana College (S.D.) 6-3 to finish the day.

Against Augustana, the Blugolds won four singles matches and two doubles matches.

Florent Marco (Jr.-Eau Claire, Wis./Memorial) and Ben Robertson (Jr.-Plymouth, Minn./Robbinsdale Armstrong) had the most solid singles wins as they both gave up just five games. Marco won 6-2, 6-3 at No. 3 while Robertson won 6-4, 6-1 at No. 5. Both also combined for a No. 3 doubles victory with a score of 8-5.

At No. 6 singles, Brayden Parman (So.-Beaver Dam, Wis.) won 6-3, 7-6 while Ryan Vande Linde (So.-Eau Claire, Wis./Memorial) played a close No. 2 singles match but came out on top 6-4, 4-6, 6-3.

Chris Kuna (Sr.-Edina, Minn.) and Joey Minear (Fr.-Oronoco, Minn./Rochester Century) also combined for a No. 1 doubles victory of 8-4.

The Blugolds are now 10-3 on the season.

Next up, the Blugolds will head to Hilton Head, South Carolina for a Spring Break Trip. They will compete in five matches between March 18 and March 22.
