Men's Tennis Wins Three at Home to Improve to 7-2 Overall

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (Blugolds.com) – The UW-Eau Claire men's tennis team picked up three 9-0 wins at home this weekend and increased its winning streak to six straight.

Friday, the Blugolds beat St. Norbert College and followed Saturday with a win over Lawrence University and Milwaukee School of Engineering.

Florent Marco (Jr.-Eau Claire, Wis./Memorial) and Joe Meier (So.-Hutchinson, Minn.) each finished their weekends with 3-0 records in singles play.

Marco won 6-2, 6-1 at No. 3 against St. Norbert and 6-2, 6-2 against Lawrence. He ended the weekend playing in the No. 1 spot against MSOE and finished with a scores of 6-3, 6-3.

In the No. 5 spot against St. Norbert and Lawrence, Meier won 6-3, 6-0 and 6-1, 6-3, respectively. He finished the weekend winning 6-1, 6-2 in the No. 2 spot against MSOE.

On the doubles side, the pairs of Meier and Ryan Vande Linde (So.-Eau Claire, Wis./Memorial) along with Michael Roden (Fr.-Eau Claire, Wis./Memorial) and David Stingley (Jr.-St. Paul, Minn./Highland Park) went 3-0 over the weekend.

The Blugolds are now 7-2 on the season.

The Blugolds will be in Dubuque, Iowa next Saturday for two more competitions. They will face Loras College (Iowa) at 8:30 a.m. and will end the day against the University of Dubuque (Iowa) at 1 p.m.
